Check the price of Windows Vista Home Basic, then check the price of this
computer again...
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16883114068

Fry;s Electronic use to sell a GQ system every other weekend for $200,
but this is newegg, tax free but has shipping charges...
Do not know the motherboard, wonder how this system would perform running
Linux, and does the Power Supply need to be changed out for a quality
unit...

If Acer/eGateMachines is still using the wobbly and unreliable Bestec
branded power supplies, a replacement would be in order. Of course,
when you buy ANY brand of system, you never know which brand of power
supply, hard drive, optical driver or memory you will get. They are all
commodities, bought by purchasing agents who are motivated to get the
lowest price regardless of quality. Sometimes it does not matter, and
sometimes there are brand names inside well worth avoiding. Like Bestec
and Maxtor.

Ben,

From the photos it appears to be a no name Power Supply unit... But I
have never seen this motherboard either...

Not bad for 1/2 the price of a pizza for 23 months if it lasts that long,
or 12 delivered pizza...
