I recently bought a HP DV9000 laptop and have tried to install a
Whole disc encryption program (tried both PGP whole disk and
Drivecrypt Plus Pack), to give me extra security, but with no
success. the boot authentication will not install or work. The
reason, i have discovered from HP, is that there is a system on this
laptop that rewrites the MBR on bootup (presumeably for security)
and they say there is no way to turn it off.
Everytime boot authentication is installed, the system removes it on
next bootup.
Is anyone else aware of this this problem and knows of a way round
it?
I would be extremely grateful for any help or advice
