You know, it's fashionable to badmoth Gateway in general these days,
especially Support.

As a desperation parting shot I emailed Gateway Support and told them that I
didn't have a utlity to manage the ATI adapter on my Solo 9500 and that I
wanted to use an external LCD monitor and turn the primary laptop screen
off.

Back came a prompt polite reply giving me a link to a Gateway download site
for ATI Mobility 128 AGP 4X Drivers and Utility. These I downloaded and
installed and, after correcting the display resolution, found that the
LCD/CRT button on the keyboard now worked.

I have achieved my objective and have turned the native monitor on my 9500
Laptop off and am operating on an external LCD screen. Why didn'i write to
them in the first place?

At the same time I want to thank Ben and Bill very much for their
considerable time and effort. Regards, Denzil.

Amazing! And glad to hear it all worked out and we are all much smarter
because of it.

WOW! This is definitely exceptional tech support by Gateway! After
all, the 9500 is at least 7 years old. Congrats to their new management
at Acer... Ben Myers
