For an example of this quote problem, check out message
<>; if clicking the message ID
doesn't open it, you can find it at alt.tv.heroes with the title NBC
chief says "Heroes" will be renewed for shorter season.

You will see strange quote marks such as the ones in this passage:

> For all its headline-making audience erosion, “Heroes” is still tied
> with NBC's “The Office” as the network’s top-rated series among
> adults 18-49 this season.

To see the original, look at
<http://www.thrfeed.com/2009/03/nbc-to-renew-heroes.html>

(The curly quotes look correct when I pasted it here; I hope they retain
their appearance in the transmission.)

That website is diplaying UTF-8; if you use MT-NW and "decode as UTF-8"
you'll see the post correctly rendered, albeit in a different font.

Here's my paste from the same site (there's no "compse as UTF-8" in
MT-NW, it's, um, Western (Mac OS Roman) and I'm net even sure what that
means):

<>
For all its headline-making audience erosion, ³Heroes² is still tied
with NBC's ³The Office² as the network¹s top-rated series among adults
18-49 this season.
</>

That came off my clipboard looking correct with the "curly quotes"
replaced by ascii ones.

The paste in my message displayed properly (with curly quotes) when I
received the post, as did the one in your message.

The messed up ones in the message I referenced from alt.tv.heroes was
posted with forte agent.

Do you mean "Decode as Unicode UTF-8"? I tried that and I still saw the
broken quotes and apostrophes.
