funny printer

hi,
i have a printer HP deskjet 3550 ...it was working fine till 2 days
ago...it just initializes and stops...theres no printing going on at
all...theres no hardware conflicts or anything...i checked...so i try
to reinstall the drivers...aftr uninstalling the previous set...and
the setup for the drivers just gets stuck..and refuses to detect my
printer...its a usb port...so it shd autodetect...wats the
problem..any suggestions will be greatly appreciated...

Is your printer printing its self test successfully or not? If
yes then there shd be your OS problem.... Try the printer with another
system..
