I have a Gateway MX6455 Platinum with blank LCD. Works fine on the
external monitor. Ive been told that the problem is the LCD bulb and
it costs around 20.00 dollars. But to have the work done will cost
around $300.00 +sh. As I can not find a service manual anywhere for
this model, has anyone had a similar experience and can advise me on
where and how to change this bulb.

Many THanks

Butch

Daughters Friend had this happen and found a local shop to do the work
for about $100 + Bulb. Perhaps you can find one as well.

And click on the bulb link on top. Although your problem can include the
lamp, the inverter, cables, lid switch, etc.

Thanks Bill, Kevin:
Can Anyone point me to a service/parts manual so that I might be able
to replace the lamp without having to glue the LCD assy back
together. Thanks again.

How is this? I don't know how much they want though for them.
