Yes, we made sure DHCP was enabled and static IP was not. The bizarre
thing is that after letting the darn computer sit idle all day, my son
went back and discovered that he was able to access the Internet via
the USB adapter. Somehow it completely refreshed with a valid IP, DNS
suffix, etc. Don't know how or why, but I guess we can't complain.
The integrated NIC is now disabled in XP.
Now we'll have to wait and see what happens when he returns to college
after break. If he can't get the integrated NIC to work at school,
he'll have to use the USB adapter there also.
