Getting Replacement System

My D8400 has died and Dell is building me a replacement system. The
replacement involves the computer itself and all of the cards, etc. It does
not include the monitor or other external devices.

I have been told that what I will be getting will either be equal to my 8400
or better. I have also been told that they have a 5-15 business day window
to build the system :-(.

I was wondering if anyone has had experience getting a replacement system
from Dell? What did you get? How long did it take? etc., etc., etc.

Thanks.

Harry

Second-hand. You'll get equal or better specs., and the system will likely
appear brand new.

Turn-arounds seemed to run about 10 days, that time dictated by availability
of an upgrade replacement system.

Provided nothing gets screwed up in the works, you'll be pleased.

I had an XPSGen2 desktop- had a three year warranty- expires in May
this year. Had a problem and Dell replaced it with an XPS600 desktop!
Once they decided to replace it, it didn't take long. When I got it
it developed a random reboot problem (hardware caused). They
sent a tech here yesterday and replaced the motherboard and Power
supply. No more problems.

Naturally I quickly purchased an extended warranty.

The XPS600 is a far better system !!!!!

Stew and Murphy,

Thank you for your comments. Believe it or not, my replacement computer
arrived this afternoon! Dell sent me a 9200/2.8GHZ/1GB RAM.

Unfortunately, the keyboard I have will not fit the 9200 so now I have to
wait until tomorrow when a new one arrives before I can do anything with it.
Oh well, at least there is a new computer sitting on my desk now.
