GF3 Ti200 sharing IRQ... Problem?

I have a Leadtek GF3 Ti200 on an FIC AN19C mainboard. The card
worked fine on my MSI 6382 v1 mainboard before. I upgraded to a newer
mainboard, but all the componants come from the MSI 6382 v1 system.
Even the case, and PSU is the same. Beides the mainboard, the only
other thing different is that I'm using the onboard LAN on the FIC
AN19C, where I was using a Linksys NIC on the MSI 6382 v1 mainboard.
Now after playing games, the system locks up at radom times. I
tested the RAM, but found no errors. I've tried formting, and
reinstalling the OS with all updates, device drivers, a`nd VIA 4in1
drivers, but it doesn't help. I wa`s wondering if the fact that the
onboard LAN, and AGP slot share an IRQ would cause this? There is no
way to change this as the AGP slot, onboard LAN, and onboard sound
must share the same IRQ. Why they would make the board like this is
beyond me.
I'm also wondering if the CPU temp. is to high. At idle it
runs at 51C. I'm not sure what it ran at on the MSI board cause it
didn't have a temp. sensor onboard. Any advice would be apreciated.
Below is the system specs.:

FIC AN19C mainboard ( VIA 4in1 4.48 recommended for Win9x/ME
installed)

AMD Athlon XP1900+
256MB PC2100 DDR
Leadtek GF3 Ti200
onboard 10/100 LAN chip
ESS Solo-1 1938 soundcard
Generic 400W ATX PSU
WinME (All patches, and updates installed)

Onboard sound, serial, and USB ports disabled)

Under normal circumstances the IRQ sharing shouldn't be a problem
although I don't like graphics cards sharing them.
1st clean up the Device Manager using Safemode as per,
http://www.geocities.com/sheppola/drivers.html
disable all none needed options in the BIOS like Com ports if you are
not using serial com devices.
If you have USB enabled then disable the error correction in the
Device Manager/USB section/Usb controllers.
There are other tweaks but also clean the registry as even a clean
re-install of windows can contain 100s of false entries,
http://www.geocities.com/sheppola/house.html
Note caveat for
Easy Cleaner/Registry cleaner with WinME/XP.

AFTER and <never> DURING ??.............that's very odd.........did
you state the problem correctly ? How long AFTER ?

Since you have turned off on-board sound in BIOS, it is easy to prove
if on-board LAN has anything to do with the problem by turning off the
on-board LAN in BIOS, playing a single-player game and looking for
crashes.

A liitle high, nearer to 45 degrees is better, but you can leave the
case-cover off and run a space-fan over the processor while checking
for crashes. I doubt that the processor has anything to do with your
problems.

A very bad choice of motherboard. Many reported crashes
on Via MBs due to incompatibility between Via 4-in-1 driver-versions
and video card driver-versions. Junk it and get a nForce2 motherboard
with integrated LAN. It also certainly will not share the LAN IRQ
with the video card. You will not regret that purchase. However, if
the crashes occur AFTER and <<never>> DURING game-playing,
the problem is less likely to be driver-contention.

You may also want to run your games with sound disabled and
the sound-card removed as an experiment. This non-descript
sound-card could possibly be the source of your crashes.

But the OP already stated that he did a format/OS-install with the
latest drivers and still had the problems. Cleaning up an otherwise
clean registry etc. is going to do diddly-squat for him.

Blahh. I had 3 PCI devices constantly sharing IRQ7 (which happened to be VGA
IRQ) in my PC back in the day when I ran 3dmark 2001 and such benchmarking
programs, I scored 7100 with the card (good for its time), no issues with
any program at all. It's not dangerous to share the video card IRQ, most of
the time it can't even be avoided if there's a bunch of PCI devices in the
system. If there is a problem it's due to faulty hardware which should be
returned to the place of purchase.

*Highly* inadvisable, error correction is there to CORRECT ERRORS. If there
is no error correction it could lead to data corruption and/or system
crashes = BAD! Even standard USB runs at 60MHz signalling rate, ie very
susceptible to interference. USB2 is several GHz. Especially over a long
cable, you do NOT want to turn off error correction...

Besides, I never saw such an option in the hardware manager.

Never bothered with those programs. OS runs just fine anyway. Strange, eh?

Sure some might be gained by using these programs, but something might just
as well break too, and is it worth the bother to download and install these
tools and then risk corrupting your registry (which these cleaners CAN do)?
IMO, no.

Sorry. I was typing before thinking. Wha`t I problably meant
was that after upgrading to the newer mainboard, games crash during
game play at random times. Last night after posting this message, I
ran a burn in program that puts a load on the CPU. This mourning the
system was locked up. No 3D application running. Will try again
tonight.

As stated.A clean re-install isn't.

Check here,
http://www.usbman.com/
USB error correction is next to useless and a common cause of
problems.

Think about it.... there are millions... yes MILLIONS of motherboards
out there based on VIA chipsets. According to your advice, all those
millions of folks out there should scrap their perfectly good systems
because you deem them somehow inferior to a product that has it's own
share of problems. I would be willing to bet a sizable sum of money
that on a percentage basis there are fewer problem boards based on VIA
chipsets than on NForce chipsets.

Try thinking independently, instead of just regurgitating something
you heard somewhere.
