Hi all,
I have a GA-6BXU slot 1 motherboard from Gigabyte and want to upgrade
my processor from the P3 450Mhz I have now.
I'm sure this question has been asked before, but I'm sorry if I have
missed the answer. It has been said on some groups that the manual for
this Mobo is ambiguous and the Gigabyte website is less than helpful.

I would idealy like to upgrade to at least a P3 1Ghz (CuMine) at
100/133Mhz FSB. I have not seen any comments from anyone who has had
sucess doing this. Is it possible? would I use a slot 1 CPU, or an
FPGA & Slocket?
Does anyone have any experience using CPU's past the 550Mhz max as
stated in the manual?
Any help much appreciated.

I don't know if you can upgrade your MOBO. But perhaps you should
look into upgrading your MOBO. The P3 1GHz (slot 1) Coppermine
processor will run you $300. for less you can get an
1.)AMD XP 2500+ for $90

2.)SOYO KT600 Chipset Motherboard for $76

3.)512MB for 77.99

and save $50 some dollars and get a faster computer and USB 2,DDR
memory, ATA133, etc etc etc.

If you choose to stay with your current machine I would see if you can
use the FPGA as they are cheaper than the slot 1 versions.
