GX240: Mixing ECC and Non-ECC Ram

Just wanted to be sure before we purchase more ram. Can we mix ECC and
non-ECC ram on a Dell Optiplex GX240? I understand from most post
that it will only disable the ECC function. Is that correct with the
GX240? Will it automatically disable it? The manual just says not to
mix the two. It seems hard to find ECC ram on EBAy.

Dell normally says if it's all right to mix memory types. I'd believe
them. Since there are only 2 DIMM slots, why not just replace both.
