Hi,
I'm wavering on buying some new kit. I am thinking of getting an AN7 as I
got on so well with the NF7-S, but after reading this review I am left
wondering. . . .

Wondering about what exactly...?
You know precisely how the NF7 performs so that is a 'known.' Why bother
even considering the AN7 there are no 'real' benefits over the other board
anyway..? Unless you are a O/C junkie and need a quicker Windoze fix than
what the bios offers keep with a board that has *matured* - as you have
previously posted.

The AN7 will be their last Socket A board btw - I can't understand why they
bothered.

Ed

BTW Nice now that your sig has been somewhat reduced...!!!

Lol,
well I guess I am just curious about the *uGuru* chip. Since I have to
rebuild a PC for myself I always like to try new things, see how they
perform. The AN7 looks nice, has angled IDE connectors (whoopee), Upgraded
sound chip (ALC658 inc.Optical In), Overclock-on-the-fly, BIOS profiles,
Fan-Speed-adjusting, 4 USB2.0 ports, 1 Firewire port, um that's about it. I
was thinking of the AN7 as a new NF7-S but with a few extra gizmos. . . .

Ha I only included the tech signature when its relevant, like now :P

I've not read the review but I got an AN7 just a week back to replace my
NF7-S V2.0......For performance and overclocking the NF7 is the better
board, no question. Using all the same components my AN7 wont even load
windows at the same overclock/memory timings that my NF7 is 100% Prime 95
stable with.
Needless to say I'm back running the NF7........

Anyone want a hardly used AN7?????????

Just been over and read the review...it pretty much mirrors my
findings...for me however the OCGuru worked ok.

I tried one.
Save your money !
It's a dog of a board.
Doesn't o/c worth squat and the uGuru utility doesn't work.
Needs some profound Abit therapy.
If you want a good board, go NF7 or for unbelievable sound (and good
clocking) the 8RDA+ 2.1 - which runs my OCZ 3700 better than any of the 8
NF7-S2's I've had.

Hi,
lol thanks for feedback, looks like a no-go then. If I do go nForce again I
guess I will get another NF7-S, but I will check out the EPOX offerings I
heard they are very good/stable.

The Only thing that I dislike about the ABIT boards now is that they
*Undervolt* the CPU, I wish that wasn't the case (don't mind the memory
over-volt :P). Does the EPOX give *true* vCore readings?

Then just compensate for it, if needs be, and then ignore it. It really
isn't that important as long as it can be worked around.

Does it matter about the reading ?
If it undervolts, just turn up the vcore/v-whatever.
What matters is the stability of the voltage, ie - the quality of voltreg
circuitry.

Sure, the Epox 8RDA+ is a great board (I have one). But try to buy one now.
They have been superceded by lesser boards! The Nvidia APU is no longer
available from Epox. I don't know what they are thinking.
