I managed to completely farkle my Linux system by trying a kernel from the
'test' series.

Yes, indeed: I had backups of everything that I wanted to keep and restore.

Also, I've been spending less time following newsgroups; there is life

had one done sometime back.. never really recoverd from it!!!
