My thought is that the drives may both still be set for ID1. This
means that both drives will attempt to be ID1 and you will only see
the one that "wins". You need to access the website of the vendor
(
www.maxtor.com or whatever), locate their jumper settings for the
model of drive you have, to make it show up as ID2. It's also possible
that both drives just need to be set as CS (cable select) and the IDE
cable connectors will make the difference.
