Hard Disk Nightmare

What should be simple is going nowhere.

PC1 : Windows98FE, 166MHz, had two hard disks, 1GB FAT32, and an
additional 10GB disk (*FAT16*) added and partitioned into D, E, F, G,
H.

Additional FAT16 hard disk removed.

PC2 : WindowsME, 333MHz, had one hard disk, 6GB FAT32.

The problem? I just want to put the additional hard disk from PC1
into PC2, and need to be able to access it on PC2. It doesn't show up
in Windows Explorer.

If I run fdisk or re-partition the additional disk, won't it format
it? How do I get access to this disk on PC2?

My thought is that the drives may both still be set for ID1. This
means that both drives will attempt to be ID1 and you will only see
the one that "wins". You need to access the website of the vendor
(www.maxtor.com or whatever), locate their jumper settings for the
model of drive you have, to make it show up as ID2. It's also possible
that both drives just need to be set as CS (cable select) and the IDE
cable connectors will make the difference.

Yes, your problem likely resides in the jumper settings. Make sure
one is master and the other slave, or both cable select with the boot
drive on the end of the cable.
