harddrive failure--how to restore-pls help

Hi,
I have a HP Pavilion zv5325ca (zv5000). Of course all the restore files
were lost and a new harddrive put in. Hp wants to charge me for a new
restore disk--by the time it makes it to Canada it will be big bucks. I've
tried reloading with an Windows OEM disk (the original OS was XP Home) with
the serial provided on the back of the unit on the COA with no success. Can
any pls provide me with a way to load the laptop again

The restore disk from HP is probably your best bet. You could also
install a retail version of XP and download the drivers from HP, but
this will likely be more expensive.

It is too late for you, but for others HP typically has a partition with
the install files and a utility to write these to CD for recovery in
just since a case as this. Make sure you make backups....
