Harddrive installtion?

Hi!

I have a problem that is driving me crazy. It is a problem that returns all
the time. Almost everytime when I remove a harddrive and try to install
another harddrive in the same WORKING computer it doesn't work. I try a lot
of things like changing the harddrive cable, try another harddrive and
finally after a whole day the it works with the harddrive I first tried with
and with the SAME cable too. And I don't know why.

Now I am sitting here with a P4 2ghz and I try to install a harddrive 10 gb
as a boot drive. The installation of XP has stopped here: "Windows executive
reads..." and it doesn't go any further. I have MSI motherboard, 648f
series. Can someone tell me what I do wrong?

are you PREPPING the hard drive(s) before trying to use them.
they have to be PARTITIONED and FORMATTED.
