Haw i can simulate plugin external monitor?

I want ShutDown (OFF/blank) screen (LCD) in old notebook when it work.
The best solution for me is switch to external monitor?
But external monitor must be plugin.

Haw i can simulate plugin external monitor?

Maby close any pin in D-SUB?
Any ideas?
