HDD compatability on DELL Inspiron 6400

Am looking at purchasing the DELL Inspiron 6400 which comes with 60G
SATA HDD. There is an option to get the 120G SATA but I already own a
WD SATA 120G which is in a external enclosure and wonder if it can be
used in the new laptop or has DELL made changes that require a DELL
HDD.

It's standard.

As long as the drive inside the external enclosure is the right size
(2.5"), that is.

Thanks for the info. Yes the drive in the external enclosure is a
2.5".

also need to check sata vs pata compatibility.
newer laptops use sata hard drives now
