I was just building a system for my friend which consists of the following

athlon xp 2200+@ 1.8ghz
K7S5A (Running latest bios)
256MB DDR 333mhz
20GB quantam hard drive
lite on 48x24x48cdrw
40x cd rom
ATX 350 watt power supply
Windows XP home

No matter what i do, when the system gets to windows it always restarts. I
originally had the system with a 250 watt power supply and it did the same
thing. I decided to upgrade and now it wont boot to windows with the FSB/RAM
settings at 133/133. it will only work at 100/133 which gives the system a
1.3Ghz speed @1500 PR.

I have never had such a problem with a system as i have had with this ECS
board. I even tried different ram and still the same thing.....

HELP!!!

A couple of suggestions...

Go into the BIOS and turn off the LAN, onboard sound, serial and
printer ports. This will free up IRQ's - Win seems to have trouble
when there are too many new IRQs all at once, as in a new
installation. The rear USB ports will still work, the BIOS only turns
off one of the two USB controllers.

Unplug the 40X CD ROM for the initial setup - some CD ROMs don't 'plug
and play' as well on the IDE bus as CDRW drives do. Sometimes they
have trouble with master/slave settings too, preferring one or the
other.

Sometimes it's necessary to start with the minimum configuration and
add devices one at a time for the BIOS and WIN to agree on how they
should be routed.

Good Luck!

Boot to Safemode/Control Panel/System/Startup and Recovery/Settings
and disable the Automatic restart(silly option).
This should let you work in norma windows to track down the fault
which I suspect may be driver related.
