I'm panicking! I'm hosting my daughter's baby shower next Sunday. From
Wal-Mart's downloadable music section, I've downloaded several songs that I
want to play during the baby shower. I've burned the CD two times, once
using Record Now (that came with my Dim 8400) and once using Jet Audio. The
songs are saved in WMA format and burned to an Imation CD-R to Audio CD. It
plays perfectly on my computer and in my car and my Sony boombox. On my JVC
DVD player that is part of our home theater system and on my Phillips mini
stereo, it skips What do I need to do to be able to play this in my JVC
player? A different type CD? Use a different program to burn or would
converting them to mp3 work...surely there's something I can do?
Thanks,
Monica

depends on the player. if it's an old player it may not support burned
discs. any newer player (new being the past 4 years or so) it should be
able to play them without a problem. an mp3 disc may or may not work,
again it depends on the player. the only solution i know of that
sometimes works (not always but it may be worth a shot) is burning it
at the lowest rate possible. i.e., if it is a 48x burner, burn the disc
at 2x.

Have you burned audio CD's before and played them with no problems on the
JVC player? How old is the JVC player if you have not been able to play
your burned disks on it? Older home DVD players will have issues with
burned disks.

Have you tried burning them in the CD audio format (.cda)?

Try using Windows Media Player to burn these songs to a CD. That might
work. Good luck!

Imation isn't exactly praised for their quality, I recommend spending
the extra couple dollars and going with a different brand of disks. If
that doesn't work, I'd suggest trying a CD-RW as some players (like my
Xbox) have an easier time reading those disks. Also if you're burning
at high speeds, you may want to throttle it down. Lastly, I'm unclear
whether your burning a data disk with .WMA's on it or your burning a
standard (Red Book) audio CD (if you were to look at the disk in
explorer it would list the tracks as .CDA). If you're burning as a data
disk, you may want to choose to burn as an audio CD instead; this will
reduce the amount of processing the DVD player has to perform. If you
still can't get it to work, go buy a $15 portable CD player and a $3
headphone (1/8" mini phono) to dual-RCA Composite Audio cable from
RadioShack and play the audio through the audio input of the philips
receiver.

The JVC player (model XV-N50BK) was purchased Sept 03. I don't burn many
CDs and when I do it's mostly for car audio use. Those always play fine. I
have played them in the JVC home theater player before and it seems like
there was some skipping problems. Wasn't important to me so I really don't
recall
BUT NOW IT IS They were burned to Audio CD....that's .cda isn't it?
Now I'm trying
to convert them to mp3 and can't for the life of me do it This stuff
wasn't so hard when I was younger! <lol> Windows Media Player 10 says I
don't have a compatible mp3 encoder and wants me to buy one! I KNOW I've
done this in the past (on a different computer) Jet Audio doesn't give me a
mp3 option. I've got iTunes but it doesn't seem to be possible in that
program.
Ideas for other freeware/shareware programs that will let me convert the wma
to mp3?
Meanwhile I'll try a couple other suggestions. Thanks guys.
