thanks for posting the log.
you do have a lot of bloat and crap running that would certainly affect your problem. can't get into it all now, but you should not run multiple products that do the same thing. get rid of registry mechanic, the other registry cleaner and spywaredetector keep the webroot, it is much better than the spyware portion of symantec, but i would disable that part of symantec. you have logitech/microsoft and bluetooth stuff all conflicting, which is directly your problem. i would also get rid of all the installshield entries and java entries. > C:\Program Files\SpywareDetector\SDService.exe > C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\UpdateService\issch.exe > C:\DOCUME~1\CARMEN~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\clclean.0001 > C:\Program Files\SpywareDetector\SDSystemTray.exe > C:\Program Files\Registry Cleaner\RCSystemTray.exe > C:\Program Files\Microsoft IntelliType Pro\itype.exe > C:\Program Files\Dell Support\DSAgnt.exe > C:\Program Files\iolo\System Mechanic 6\SMSystemAnalyzer.exe > C:\Program Files\Logitech\SetPoint\SetPoint.exe > C:\Program Files\Common Files\Logitech\khalshared\KHALMNPR.EXE > C:\Program Files\iolo\System Mechanic 6\SMTrayNotify.exe > O2 - BHO: SSVHelper Class - {761497BB-D6F0-462C-B6EB-D4DAF1D92D43} - > C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_06\bin\ssv.dll > O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MBMon] Rundll32 CTMBHA.DLL,MBMon > O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ISUSScheduler] "C:\Program Files\Common > Files\InstallShield\UpdateService\issch.exe" -start > O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ISUSPM Startup] "C:\Program Files\Common > Files\InstallShield\UpdateService\isuspm.exe" -startup > O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SystemTraySD] C:\Program > Files\SpywareDetector\SDSystemTray.exe > O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SDAutoLiveupdate] C:\Program > Files\SpywareDetector\LiveUpdateSD.exe -AUTO > O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [RCSystemTray] C:\Program Files\Registry > Cleaner\RCSystemTray.exe > O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [itype] "C:\Program Files\Microsoft IntelliType > Pro\itype.exe" > O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Logitech Hardware Abstraction Layer] "C:\Program > Files\Common Files\Logitech\khalshared\KHALMNPR.EXE" > O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [SMSystemAnalyzer] "C:\Program Files\iolo\System Mechanic > 6\SMSystemAnalyzer.exe" > O4 - Global Startup: Logitech SetPoint.lnk = ? > O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501} - > C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_06\bin\ssv.dll > O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Sun Java Console - > {08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501} - C:\Program > Files\Java\jre1.5.0_06\bin\ssv.dll > O9 - Extra button: Real.com - {CD67F990-D8E9-11d2-98FE-00C0F0318AFE} - > C:\WINDOWS\system32\Shdocvw.dll > O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {e2e2dd38-d088-4134-82b7-f2ba38496583} - > %windir%\Network Diagnostic\xpnetdiag.exe (file missing) > O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: @xpsp3res.dll,-20001 - > {e2e2dd38-d088-4134-82b7-f2ba38496583} - %windir%\Network > Diagnostic\xpnetdiag.exe (file missing) > O16 - DPF: {15589FA1-C456-11CE-BF01-000000000000} - > http://www.errornuker.com/products/e...rInstaller.exe > O20 - Winlogon Notify: SDNotify - C:\Program > Files\SpywareDetector\SDNotify.dll (file missing) > O20 - Winlogon Notify: WRNotifier - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\WRLogonNTF.dll |

The logitech software is for the mouse only. It does not have a keyboard
option in the toolbox. I don't know about the bluetooth. The mouse is bluetooth but can I disable the bluetooth on the mouse only and just leave the mouse as is. It's not the features of the mouse so much as I like it because there are not batteries to contend with. Additionally, I installed ALL the same items on my notebook - logitech mouse, microsoft keyboard and it is also bluetooth capable and did not have this problem on the notebook. The Dell is a year old and the HP 11months old. One would think the same problem would have appeared on the notebook. To be honest, I think when I come home from the doctor today I may call Dell to help me reformat (still learning I'm 68yrs old and still foolingaround with these things, but I really enjoy my computer. I am disabled also and it is a tremendous distraction for me, especially when I have to figure out problems ![]() I just hope the reformatting will solve the issue. When I do, would you suggest I install the keyboard BEFORE the mouse. The old 2 button mouse has no problem. If I do , I might call Logitech for advice on ridding the system of old Logitech KEYBOARD files (not mouse files). Guess I just don't give up huh!! Thanks for all your help. Having problems and fixing them myself helps me learn more and heaven know there is so much to learn. Started with 3.1 to learn MS Word to find a job about 10 years ago. Guess what, I still don't know all about Word but have found hobby that is very fulfilling to me. Thanks again and I WILL let you know what the outcome is PS: I really like the System Mechanic, don't want to give it up but the rest is not a problem I don't know how to get rid of "i would also get rid of all the installshield entries and java entries" as you said . How do I do that. Thanks Carmen "Jay B" <> wrote in message news:Ouidh.819$... > thanks for posting the log. > you do have a lot of bloat and crap running that would certainly affect > your problem. > can't get into it all now, but you should not run multiple products that > do the same thing. > get rid of registry mechanic, the other registry cleaner and > spywaredetector > keep the webroot, it is much better than the spyware portion of symantec, > but i would disable that part of symantec. > > you have logitech/microsoft and bluetooth stuff all conflicting, which is > directly your problem. > > i would also get rid of all the installshield entries and java entries. > > >> C:\Program Files\SpywareDetector\SDService.exe >> C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\UpdateService\issch.exe >> C:\DOCUME~1\CARMEN~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\clclean.0001 >> C:\Program Files\SpywareDetector\SDSystemTray.exe >> C:\Program Files\Registry Cleaner\RCSystemTray.exe > >> C:\Program Files\Microsoft IntelliType Pro\itype.exe >> C:\Program Files\Dell Support\DSAgnt.exe >> C:\Program Files\iolo\System Mechanic 6\SMSystemAnalyzer.exe >> C:\Program Files\Logitech\SetPoint\SetPoint.exe >> C:\Program Files\Common Files\Logitech\khalshared\KHALMNPR.EXE >> C:\Program Files\iolo\System Mechanic 6\SMTrayNotify.exe > > >> O2 - BHO: SSVHelper Class - {761497BB-D6F0-462C-B6EB-D4DAF1D92D43} - >> C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_06\bin\ssv.dll > >> O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MBMon] Rundll32 CTMBHA.DLL,MBMon >> O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ISUSScheduler] "C:\Program Files\Common >> Files\InstallShield\UpdateService\issch.exe" -start >> O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ISUSPM Startup] "C:\Program Files\Common >> Files\InstallShield\UpdateService\isuspm.exe" -startup >> O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SystemTraySD] C:\Program >> Files\SpywareDetector\SDSystemTray.exe >> O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SDAutoLiveupdate] C:\Program >> Files\SpywareDetector\LiveUpdateSD.exe -AUTO >> O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [RCSystemTray] C:\Program Files\Registry >> Cleaner\RCSystemTray.exe >> O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [itype] "C:\Program Files\Microsoft IntelliType >> Pro\itype.exe" >> O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Logitech Hardware Abstraction Layer] "C:\Program >> Files\Common Files\Logitech\khalshared\KHALMNPR.EXE" >> O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [SMSystemAnalyzer] "C:\Program Files\iolo\System >> Mechanic 6\SMSystemAnalyzer.exe" >> O4 - Global Startup: Logitech SetPoint.lnk = ? > >> O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501} - >> C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_06\bin\ssv.dll >> O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Sun Java Console - >> {08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501} - C:\Program >> Files\Java\jre1.5.0_06\bin\ssv.dll > >> O9 - Extra button: Real.com - {CD67F990-D8E9-11d2-98FE-00C0F0318AFE} - >> C:\WINDOWS\system32\Shdocvw.dll > >> O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {e2e2dd38-d088-4134-82b7-f2ba38496583} - >> %windir%\Network Diagnostic\xpnetdiag.exe (file missing) >> O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: @xpsp3res.dll,-20001 - >> {e2e2dd38-d088-4134-82b7-f2ba38496583} - %windir%\Network >> Diagnostic\xpnetdiag.exe (file missing) > >> O16 - DPF: {15589FA1-C456-11CE-BF01-000000000000} - >> http://www.errornuker.com/products/e...rInstaller.exe > >> O20 - Winlogon Notify: SDNotify - C:\Program >> Files\SpywareDetector\SDNotify.dll (file missing) > >> O20 - Winlogon Notify: WRNotifier - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\WRLogonNTF.dll > |

i admire your quest for knowledge at your age.
that's the secret to living long, keep learning. taking something out means to remove it from add/remove, or simply check the box in hijackthis and say fix and it will remove it from the startup and from memory. the beauty of hijackthis is that it makes a log and backup of what you remove so you can put them back if needed. good luck. generally you dont need to run so many things on the computer. if you were to do a fresh install of windows by booting from the cd and erasing your hard drive, formatting, and reinstalling everything, then you would see a tremendous improvement over what you have now. then just install the items you really need, the order doesnt really matter. be prepared to backup your data first if you want, and get a copy of the dell drivers folder from the root of the c drive. you may need this after you reformat. > http://www.errornuker.com/products/e...rInstaller.exe > O20 - Winlogon Notify: SDNotify - C:\Program > Files\SpywareDetector\SDNotify.dll (file missing) I have doubts about the multiple entries for Spyware Detector - it used to appear on SpywareWarrior as rogue / suspect, although it would appear they've cleaned up their act a little http://spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spyware.htm "Note on Spyware Detector: Spyware Detector was listed on this page because of concerns with false positives. Testing with the latest version of Spyware Detector indicates that the problems with earlier versions have been satisfactorily resolved. Thus, we can no longer consider Spyware Detector to be "rogue/suspect" anti-spyware." ErrorNukerInstaller is "open to debate" over at CastleCops http://www.castlecops.com/atxlist-1479.html |
