HP 1300N on WIn 98-Installer severe error Help!!

I am trying to install our new 1300N on my windows 98 machine. The installer
detects the printer,displays its ip address and all. When it gets to the
very end of the install where it says creating network port,I get a
installer severe error message and it quits.

Any idea what this could be?
