Several years ago I bought an HP 4250. I wanted to use Tray 1 to
insert a separator sheet between jobs, but could not figure out how to
do so. After some discussion (perhaps on this group) someone was kind
enough to write the following PCL script for me:

\
\H1B\L%-12345X@PJL ENTER LANGUAGE=PCL
\H1B\L&l4h1T\0
\M\B\S\N\U
\U\LJob : \I
\U\LDate: \D
\U\LTime: \T
\E\H1B\L%-12345X

This worked fine and has been working ever since.

About a month ago, I migrated from XP Home to XP Pro on a new
computer. I took the script to the new computer, where it continued to
work. Today, for no apparent reason, the separator pages no longer
work.

The script is still intact and the printer properties still point to
it. I've changed nothing, either the script, its location, or the
printer properties.

I've turned the printer off and on and rebooted, but no joy.

The only unusual thing since migrating to the new computer is that the
printer has thrown several "49 3C1A Service Error" messages. The
manual says this indicates a firmware problem and to turn the printer
off and back on. This has worked each time and has had no apparent
effect on the separator page. The last occurrence was several days ago
and the separator page just quit today.

Any ideas?

Mind if I ask if you have applied June's MS updates yet? I am having
the same issue and it seems that something in Junes updates has set it
off.
