HP 890C Printer

I have had an 890C Printer for around 3 years and it has always worked fine
although paper pick up erratic sometimes. Unfortunately for some reason the
printer has now stopped working. The on off and memory lights are out when
switched on however they flash together about every couple of minutes. I
have tried a different socket and computer. I have moved the mains lead and
parallel cable around but this does not make any difference. Basically the
printer is totally dead with only the occasional light flash. Any clues
please before I look for a replacement.
