Did you switch the 500x's port for the Deskjet to Multiple Logical Channels
(MLC)? If I remember correctly, until I set that option through Web
JetAdmin, it caused me quite some headaches. You also need to make sure
you're using a bi-directional parallel cable (that's IEEE1284, IIRC).
