Hello everybody,
I've just buy this HP NetRAID 1Si RAID SCSI carte and plug it into my
computer.
So I enter into "The wonderfull world of RAID SCSI" ....
First of all my hardware :
- HP NetRAID 1Si Card (in fact it is a AMI MegaRAID Express 200 from
LsiLogic) with last HP bios found on the net Bios 2.05 Firmware 2.07
Two Hard drive :
- On "real" Seagate Cheetah ST318406LW 18Go 10K with Firmware 109 (set
ID 1 with jumper and no other jumpers)
- On HP "Seagate Cheetah" ST318406LW 18Go 10K with the last Firmware
HP05 found on HP site (set wihout any jumpers so ID 0)
- Adaptec 2940U2W SCSI Card.
- An SCSI cable with a LVD/SE terminator at the end
Here is my experiments :
- On the Adaptec, my hard drives are ok, detected ULTA2-LVD and Sisoft
Sandra bench gives me for both ~33Mo/s, quite good
- Then I decide to use my brand new RAID card just by changing the cable
from the Adaptec to the NetRAID.
- I create an array with theses driver on RAID 0.
- And now Sisoft Sandra gives me for this array ~21Mo/s

(
Euh .... I believe RAID should be better ???
I read the HP NetRAID 1Si specs and it tells that Ultra2-LVD is supported by
this card by Sandra tells me that the logical drive is SCSI2 (16bit for bus
and 8bit for adressing)
I try every thing possible :
- Checking terminasion, from cable, from card ...
- Checking my cable and change it
- Setting only one disque to make the RAID 0

and same result ~21Mo/s

(
- Changing Stripping size 4K->64K->128K
But it still the same problem, a very very bad transfert rate....
So, if you have an idea or could help me ?
Thank you,
Djemel,
PS : sorry for my poor english.
