hp pavilion a730n crashes

I have an hp pavilion a730n
which frequently stops for no apparent reason.
Sometimes, it shuts down with a loud click.
I must switch off the power and switch it on again to recover.
Sometimes, it fails to startup again
and I must disconnect the power from the motherboard to recover.
Has anybody else experienced similar problems with this machine?
