I have a HP Pavilion DV6365 notebook.

I have been noticing that notebook does an excessive humming coming
from middle of the keyboard. When the hard disk is working this
humming is minimized. Does anybody have the same experience? Is there
some solution?

A common HP problem even in their desktop computers.

This is not at all a common problem. I have owned HP computers for years.
I currently have three in my home, two desktops and laptop, a dv6045nr, and
none of them hum.
I know of several family members and friends that have HP computers, and
none of them hum. When I visit stores like CompUSA, Best Buy, etc, and I
wander around the computer department, I have never heard an HP of any kind
hum.

It's often the optical drive that does the excessive humming. Is there a
CD or DVD in the drive? This is a commonly reported problem on HP notebooks.

We have several hundred around the office, and had to have the motherboards
replaced on around 40 or 50 of them to cure the noise. There is still one
near me where the user can't hear the noise, but every one else around him
can.

Perhaps psychological testing is in order?

You maintain that the problem the OP described is both common and
widespread, and is specific to HP computers. I have worked with computers
for decades, and have worked with just about every kind and brand of
computer in existence. I can assure you that the problem described is not
widespread, it is not common, and it is not limited to HP computers.

Others have posted similar responses in this thread. You are alone in
asserting that HP computers hum as a rule.

Maybe medical testing is appropriate...to find out why you hear a hum when
you are around HP computers.

I am sitting within arms reach of two HP computers, and neither hum. I work
in an office equipped with at least 16 HP computers, of varying models and
ages, and none of them hum. The company that I work for has literally
several hundred HP computers spread over several states, and I have never
heard one hum. A quick search of my repair log database going back nearly 3
years shows that not a single work order was issued for any computer
"humming", HP or not. I also search "Noise" and "Noisy" and found two
entries, both for
the same computer, and it turned out to be a cable rubbing against a case
fan.

Based on my own experience, and the other techs that I have talked to about
this, there is definitely no common problem with HP computers humming.

On a positive note, the topic did allow us to spend several minutes cracking
each other up with puns and jokes about it...

"Why do HP computers hum"? Because the don't know the lyrics...

Do you know why HP computers hum? No, but if you'll sing a few bars...
