There are just a handful of memory CHIP manufacturers,
but many memory verdors, the difference being that the vendors
will purchase memory chips and solder them to a board of their
own making.
I, personally, prefer but purchase memory producrs from
the memory chip makers, under the theory they have more to
lose, and less overhead.
So, in no particular order, Samsung, Micron, Infineon
and one or two others. As for the type of memory, go to the
Crucial Memory web site, and check to see what kind of memory
they recommend. Crucial, btw, is the retail outlet for Micron.
Anyway, once you know what you need, purchase the memory from
any number of places. I, personally, use Dallas Memory International
(off the top of my head), and have had no problems on memory
(DOA) returns. Be warned, they insist on YOUR signature, so
you will have to arrange for that, signing the door slip is a
no go. Since FedEx is around the block from where I work, it
isn't a issue to me. YMMV. :-)
