HP Pavilion zt1000 laptop screen backlight....

All:

A few months back, my laptop screen went dim, and under warranty the
inverter that powers (well, inverts power to) the display was
replaced. Now, only a few months later, it has died again, but now out
of warranty.

As I'm sure the folks at HP will gladly repair it for me at a cost
approaching 90% of the price of the unit, and the behavior is
essentially identical to that exhibited when it failed before, I'm
more than willing to attempt the repair myself.

It appears the same inverter is used on all variations of this model
laptop, and can be purchased from HP for $23. I've read a few postings
on various things that this might be, relatively speaking, a fairly
simple replacement. I know the long wait from the last repair was due
primarily to waiting on the part; once in hand, the tech replaced it
almost immediately.

I'd appreciate any thoughts or opinions on this; if anyone had actual
experience replacing this inverter, that'd be awesome as well.

Please reply to the group, because the email used for this posting is
long since dead.

Thanks,
David

Thanks David,

I will look into the power inverter. I may be able to find the part at
HTTP://WWW.HP-AT-Home.com and some instructions on how to replace it. if I
do I'll let you know.

Thanks again.
