Recently our PC started exhibiting some strange behaviour. The HDD started
with bad sectors, the power supply then failed. This was replaced. Then
the modem card would pick up the line and you could hear the dial tone,
however no DTMF tones were sent and the message, no dial tone (and yes it
was plugged into the correct socket). Then the HDD completely failed, so
was replaced and rebuilt using the HP recovery CD's. The issue with the
modem card still continued. We sent away for a new modem card under the
assumption that it was faulty. Replaced the card, still exhibits the same
behaviour. Tried loading new drivers for this card, no change. Tried HP
self help on their website, useless.
Any ideas?
