HP Pavillion Model 7845 CPU upgrade

anybody know what is compatible with this mode HP. it's currently 866
mhz. currently have 512 ram. 370 socket on asus motherboard. i
called hp directly but they wanted to charge me 60 bucks for the
information. any help is appreciated. thnx.

I can't give you an exact answer. For sure, a 933MHz P3 will work OK. So
will a 1100Mhz Celeron of the right voltage. Above that speed you get into
lower voltage processors, and the HP/Asus motherboard may not support the lower
voltages. If you can still find one, PowerLeap once made a kit that worked in
most Socket 370 computers,

If you decide to buy a faster chip, make sure that its voltage is the same as
the 866MHz CPU, probably 1.65v or 1.7v. That way, you know that the
motherboard supports it.

Neither HP nor Asus are especially forthcoming about the processors supported by
their motherboards. The odds are you would be ****ing away $60 to talk to HP,
who probably do not have the information you need anyway. You made a good
decision and saved some money... Ben Myers
