I have always had problems installing any of my HP printers. What I have
tried lately is to go to start/type msconfig.exe and when the window opens I
disable any third party utility type programs in BOTH the startup tab AND
the SERVICES tab that may have protective firewalls. What I have is :
Norton firewall, Windows firewall, Windows Defender, Spysweeper . Go to
these tabs and disable any reference to them, especially the services tab
and then reboot.
Seems like HP printers don't like them. I don't know what else you have on
your system but basically most of the "utility type programs" Just scroll
down the list and ANY reference to these type programs that might be coming
to the rescue to guard againt a clean install. Then try installing the
printer drivers again ( after uninstalling them) . If all goes well, don't
forget to go back to msconfig and re-enable these programs )as I once did .
As a matter of fact, if I ever need to do a complete system recovery
(Windows Vista)I always install the printer BEFORE installing these type
programs and haven't had any problems since.Hope this helps.
