While I was evacuate to Sacramento, because of Hurricane Katrina,
I decided to upgrade my memory to 1.2GB. Since then, periodically
the computer will slowly grind to a almost dead halt. I have not been
able to notice any incidence or event which seems to precedes the
slow-down event. I almost always have to just power-off, to get out
of the situation. The reaction reminds me of the old 2 ports with
the same address, causing contention. The only item which has occurred
of note is sometimes when I shutdown, I will get the "~Closing Card
reader driver ... End Now/Cancel" first, then varies other dialogs.
Any ideas
Any Help would be appreciated

_Which_ HP computer do you have? Also, while I suppose one might
guess it is running Windows from the last sentence, which rev of
Windows (or other OS) is it running?

Also, if you "downgrade" back to the previous quantity of memory does
it run better?

Have you scanned for virii/spyware etc recently?

these opinions are mine, all mine; HP might not want them anyway...
feel free to post, OR email to rick.jones2 in hp.com but NOT BOTH...
