HP psc 2210 printer settings gone !

I had been happily printing away .. no problems..and was starting to
print another item in color..and out came the copy in all black .. I
went to set my settings to Color and no matter what I do.. I can not get
the 'settings' to come up.. I get everything else..but NO settings. Even
tried other apps than HP 'Director" ie.. PhotoDeluxe etc and no app
will bring them up .
any suggestions ? and does you printer make as much noise and just
make everything on the PC table shake ?
