Which HP rackmounted server and configuration
is preferred for ms sql ?
The database will be 5 gig, the first year.

Thanks in advance,

Anything from a DL140 with a single SATA drive to a pair of clustered DL585s
with 4 processors and 32Gb RAM.

However, I'd guess what you really need is a standard workhorse server. So
go for a DL380 with 2 processors and 2Gb RAM. Don't forget the backup, and
you should have the write cache enabler and dual puwer supplies at least,
and consider a redundant fan kit. That should suit ALL your application
needs, not just SQL, and if you have 6 of them, buy an extra for spares -
it's cheaper than the extended warranties.
