I think that perhaps the newer Itanium-based workstations may have that
option, but I'm not certain.
Turning the problem on its head, since you would still have to walk
from system to system after the power work was complete, you could
instead disable autoboot. Then the remote execution of the shutdown
command, while not powering the machine down, would at least have the
side effect of leaving it in a state where it would not try to reboot
when the power came back on.
The downside is that if the systems crash in the middle of the night
(as unlikely as that is with an HP-UX workstation

it would not come
back online without manual intervention.
