An LCD screen is really only designed for one resolution, and at this
resolution has an individual pixel for every hardware pixel. At lower
resolutions the computer starts interpolate pixels and makes a hash of
everything.
Setting the resolution to the maximum (native resolution of screen) for 1:1
pixels and maximum sharpness.
If you're reducing resolution because screen fonts are too small, go to
display properties, settings>advanced, and then adjust the dpi setting,
