IDE problem interfacing with 8051

I am trying to control an IDE hard drive iwth an 8051. Basically the
problem that I have is that when I try to read a sector from the hard
drive, i get an ID field not found error. I don't know how to fix
this, nor do I even know what the ID field is. Can anyone suggest
anything?
