IE8 and Bio Protection

Dear All,
I have an Aspire 8920, with Vista and Acer Bio Protection, the Bio
Protection works fine with Internet Explorer 7, logging me on to various
sites which require user-name and password. However when I 'upgraded' to
IE8 the Bio Protection refused to work. Even if I manually inserted the
user-name and password the pop up for the Bio Protection didn't appear. I
had to Undo the upgrade, bnt now I constantly get reminders that IE8 is
available.
Any one have any idea what I have to do to get the Bio Protection with IE8
please.

Ha.
I have just found the answer to my own question (see below). IE8 is not
compatable with Bio Protection. "They" are aware of the problem but haven't
got a solution yet. See

I hope this saves others here from the frustration of IE8 and Bio
