Our department is looking at getting a Wacom Tablet for various design tasks
but would also like to be able to use it for presentations and brainstorming
- Is it possible to Use the Ink Annotations feature with the Wacom even
though it is not strictly a Tablet PC? For example if we loaded the Tablet PC
version of Windows onto the machine running it would that work?

Thanks in advance?

Hope others will chime in on this one, but, my experience is that, with
respect to tablet os apps, the answer is probably no as most of the
tablet specific apps which are part of the tabletpc os will not run on
non tablet devices.

Some services such as "Inking" are available under the desktop os' and
will allow the tablet to do some of the pen functions... open the
"windows help" and search for "ink"

That said, there are a number of options out there which will likely
meet your needs... not sure, but would assume that paid apps such as
OneNote will use the tablet pen features, there is an acrobat pen
annotations app and I use a freebie screen marker which works well for
presentations.

Unfortunately, not possible as the tablet os is not available for
purchase by anyone other than tablet oem's

Not only that, but the author (another mvp) allowed me to put it on my
site for download by tablet users.

http://bevhoward.com/stuff/Util/Marker.zip

Takes a little use to get the hang of it, but, it essentially converts
the current screen to a markable bitmap, then, when finished, the bitmap
goes away until the next use.

And, if you haven't see it, might also take a look at Gary Chanson's
Wintools which have become indispensable on my tablet... see

My attempt at international pun education...

"get around to it"

....which prompts the response "where can I find a round tuit?"

>> demo menu file <<

It's been added to the page near the bottom after the menu descriptions.

Thank you for prompting this discussion, Jon, and your input Dev.
Because of this I stumbled up on a different ScreenMarker application
(there seem to be several of them, although most aren't very usable.
Like the one you posted, they work over a snapshot, and often times dont
have an eraser)

'ScreenMarker - Highlight what's important'

I've been setting up cheap "smart classrooms" for the college I work
at, and needed good annotation software that was easy enough to use that
a sub could walk in and pick it up.

After finding the version of ScreenMarker you Dev Posted, I found this
link, which has a wonderful, no frills, dead simple screen annotation
software that works over your entire desktop. That means our Profs. can
even use it on top of live video

Anyway, since I've been looking for a good solution for so long, I
thought I would share.

@JonD In these classes I have them currently using the Wacom Graphire
Bluetooth tablets in conjunction with ScreenMarker, so it should work
just fine with your wacom tablets.
