I've got an Inspiron 6000 that bought a couple of years ago. Very nice
machine, but I pretty much cheaped out on the harddrive getting a 30 gig
4200RPM drive.

I don't care about battery power since I use it for client presentations
where power is available, so that issue aside, would I have any problems
dropping in a larger 7200 RPM drive?

TIA,

Bob

I don't foresee any difficulties if you stick to a drive below the
137GB barrier. If you want a larger drive than that, you might want to
update the BIOS beforehand.

The 200gb drive is not (yet) offered at 7200rpm.

I have an I8600 which I believe was the model before the I6000 and it came
with a 4200rpm 100Gb drive which I swapped out for a 7200rpm 100Gb drive
with no problems so I would say go for it.

That was fast...thanks.

No...60-80 is enough. Like I said, I just do client demos with it so I
don't really need any extreme storage. Just WinXP and Adobe Creative
Suite software with some demo files.

If I'm traveling and working I can bring an external or burn projects to
DVD before I leave.
