IS7-G no boot

Got my P4 2.4C today. After putting it in an Abit IS7-G with 2*512 Mc OCZ
3500EL DDR the computer refuses to boot up. I've cleared CMOS with the
jumper on the mb, removed the CMOS battery, changed VGA-card. Tried both of
the memory modules in every possible combinations. The motherboard gets
voltage in both standby mode (green light)) and power on mode (red light).
But that's it; No beep, nothing more. What's the most possible cause?

I'm considering the CPU. Secondly the mb.

sounds like the CPU isn't inserted correctly. Ensure its seated properly and
all the way in, check for bent or damaged pins.

I am not sure if the IS7-G has this quirk or not but do you have a fan plugged
into fan header 1? Some boards will not boot unless you do but I don't know if
this is one of them. Something to try anyway....

You did connect the square 4-pin ATX1 power connector to the
motherboard as well as the normal 20-pin ATX power connector ?

Failure to connect the 4-pin connector (or having a power-supply
without one) will guarantee non-operation. No power to the CPU core.

All fans connected correctly ?

Did you double-check the connections from the case LEDs, reset,
power-on, speaker are all correct ?

You could have an electrical short to the case, such as a support stud
not needed by the IS7-G that you forgot to remove.

I think that OCZ RAM is not in the list as compatible
for that board. My board is a regular IS7, I bought a
Kingston set of two DIMMs that have compatible
model number sets, works great and running dual
channel. Take a look for this at the Abit site, I suggest.

Notice that he said that there was no response from the
board other than the red light. Faulty RAM elicits a
complaint from BIOS.

try it out of the case on a safe surface with cpu, ram and video installed
and no drive ribbons or front panel leads. just the PS leads... you did
remember to connect the 4 pin AuxATX connector didn't you?

I would like to add that despite one of the posters (who shall rename
anonymous) suggestions in a different long ago thread, a yellow legal pad
does not make for a safe surface....

True, but if you work hard enough at it, someday we will promote you.
