IS7 Won't Power up No Beep

setting up a new system, all parts were just purcased. ABIT IS7 MoBo, Petium
4 2.8GHz CPU 800MHz FSB, 2 Kingston 512M DDR333 PC2700 CL2.5 DIMM. I get
fans on (CPU, Chip Set). I get Power on LED D21 and 5V LED D14 both lighting
up. My HDD starts spinning but I get no POST beep, No monitor, no keyboard
lights (although the Keyboard lights flash when I first power up). Is this a
MoBo problem? CPU? Memory? I assume I would get POST beeps if it were CPU or
Memory.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Vin

Did you remember to connect the 4-pin AUX ATX power as well as the regular
ATX power connector? the system won't power up without the AUX connector.

in the event you did remember that connector, then I would consider pulling
the mobo from the case and try powering it up on a safe work surface. have
the two power connectors plugged in, cpu, heat sink, ram and video card and
nothing else. no drive ribbons/connectors, front panel leads or other
cards. try powering the system on by shorting the two power on pins
manually.

remember to turn off the power supply rocker or remove all AC power before
you start yanking parts.

Thanks Tom,
Yes I did remember the AUX power connector.
I tried what you suggested and unfortunately, have the same exact results.
Powe LED and 5V LED on board are lit. All fans, chip set, CPU and graphics
card all running. No beep at power up, no beep code and nothing on the
monitor. This usually indicates a bad MoBo doesn't it?

Maybe you are getting the beeps but the case speaker is not connected.
Sillier things can happen. Unfortunately, the mobo's initial/reset boot
default setting has the CPU to set the memory controller to PSB800 which
runs the DDR memory at 400mhz. You might be in a kind of Catch-22 situation.

Best-0-luck,
Mikey

could be a bad mobo or cpu. if the cpu is dead, then you got a board with
no brain. it sounds like the power supply is coming up but nothing else.
I'd be trying to test the cpu in another known good board either in house or
at a local mom & pop (not national) computer store to get further
information as to where to go. or, test a known good cpu in your board...

Thanks Tom, thats a good idea. I will call around and see if I can get
someone to let me put the CPU in a known good board and see if it comes up.

there is a local shop in my area that I buy stuff from (assuming their price
is reasonable) just so I can maintain a relationship... they are always
willing to plug a cpu into a board for me and test it.
