Hello All!

I'm hoping someone can answer this....I'm not on site now, so I can't
check the printer personally.

I need to replace a LJ 6100N - it'll cost too much to repair it.

Since the 6100 was too much printer anyway, the thought was to replace
it with a 4100. Of course, they have been discontinued, so now we're
looking at a 4200.

To save a few $$, I'd like to just swap the Jet Direct card from the
old 6100N into the 4200...that way we don't have to buy a 4200N.

Obviously, the question is: Will it fit?

thanks!

DUOH!!!!!

I meant the existing printer is a 4000N. Pardon my "Senior moment"
<g>. Not even sure where the "6100" came from.

I'm fairly certain that both models, like most contemporary HP printers, use the
EIO style of network card. Should be an easy swap. Check the specs. You may
be able to use the same toner cartridges, too. With its high end LaserJets (and
some low end ones, too), HP seems to habitually add "100" to the model number
periodically, and tweak a few features, leaving the basic printer mechanism the
same.

What will become of the 4000N in need of repair? Are you in eastern
Massachusetts? I'll take it away... Ben Myers

Actually used to be in Hartford (a long time ago), but these days I'm
in Northern California - slightly south of San Jose (as is the Printer
in question).

Don't know what their plans are (if they don't go with the trade-in)
for the old one - and don't know if you'd be interested in having it
shipped across country. If you are, let me know and I'll ask the
"powers that be".

I have little or no interest in having a heavy printer shipped across the
country. There are people in your area who would either rehabilitate it to get
it back into service or strip it for parts... Ben Myers
