JetDirect PrintServer Setup ?

I need some help with the basic setup/use of a jetdirect
(HP 2951a) Print Server. I've never set up one of these before
and I don't have a clue. I did find the user manual at hp.com
but it is fairly useless for anything more than wiring up the
unit.

I have it wired up. It tests OK to the printer. It is pulling a
DHCP address from the DHCP server on the network. I managed to
do a firmware upgrade. So, it's live and running. I installed
the "Web JetAdmin" on one of my machines. That software sees
it too... but I really don't think I need that software at all
for me: all I want is a standalone print server that can be
contacted from any system on the network.

What I can't figure out is how I connect computers to it to print (?).
Does it have a network name ? Do I have to install software on each
computer ? What's the next step to actually start printing ?

Thanks,
Bob

Go back to the HP Web site. You need a utility called
"HP Install Network Printer Wizard", or "JetDirect Install".

Put this utility on all your client computers. With it is run
it will search for JetDirects on the local network, and allow
you to create a printer port for each one found.

If you have a CDROM for the JetDirect, check to see if
there is a copy of this software on it.

It is also possible to access a JetDirect as a Unix LPD, or
as a Netware printer. However, the above software is
easier to use.

Thanks to both responders. I found this utility and ran it.

HP could do with some work at their web site. There's lots of
information there, but it's next to impossible to find it, even
after you find your product in the support section.
