I am running 98Se, clean install. All patches applied. If my pc stays on all
night it locks up and I have to do a hard boot. Power Management settings
are all Never, monitor is set at 15 minutes. I'm stumped!

Have you disabled the APM(Advanced Power Management) in the BIOS?

I think I am having the same problem on my K7VTA3 (XP Pro). It looks
like the AGP slot, USB2.0 and on-board LAN all share the same IRQ (11 if
memory serves). However, things seem stable with the on-board LAN
disabled in the bios - not a big problem for me as this machine is using
a wireless USB device for networking.

I hope you are not overclocking anything, this is a common source of
crashes.
Unfortunately it is quite normal for W98SE to spontaneously crash even
after a clean boot and without having run any programs. It typically
takes about 2 hours on my computer. In my experience crashes that
occur while running a program are usually the program's fault.
Programs that crash W98SE still crash on XP, it's just that XP has
better crash recovery |-).
