I've read from number of places that AGP 8X cards should work with K7S5A
PRO, eventough it only supports AGP 4x. To my knowledge the AGP card
should then only do 4x.

Now I'm having a headache making this card work, because after I install
Nvidia drivers and boot, my Windows XP freezes on the login screen.
Removing the drivers from safe mode works ok.

So my question: Aren't all 5200FX card's made equal? Could it be that my
card isn't backwards compatible (to agp4x) and that's what's causing the
freeze?

I have latest SIS AGP drivers (1.17) installed.

I expect your agp drivers are the problem not the card as Ive a K7S5A with a
radeon 9700 in (8xagp) and that runs fine, are you using the drivers that
came with the card? try downloading the newest ones from nvidias web site
www.nvidia.com .
good luck

I have an XFX (Pine) FX5200 128M that runs perfectly on a K7S5A Pro v5.0
rev3. The only difference is I'm running W2K. Why don't you give it a try
and see what happens.

It was the graphics card.. I returned the "Color Pro FX 5200 128mb AGP
8x" card and got a Creative FX 5200 128mb card that supports AGP 4x (2x
and 8x as well) and it worked perfectly.

Apparently this cheap brand card ("Color Pro") was either defected or
just doesn't support agp 8x. Thanks for the tips tough !

I would recommend anyone buying a cheapo card to stay away from these
Color Pro cards and pay a little extra to get a -good- cheap card.
