Anyone know the fix to this one? All was fine til I added a
secondary ide master 200 gig hd. Secondary ide sole device.

Bios takes a long time to see hd during post.

Within bios it will auto recognize drive quickly. No user defined
setting available for 200 gigs.

Can boot without bios seeing drive at times.

Nothing is overclocked.

I had the same issue with some some over 137 gig hard drives. I would
always have to go into the bios for it to detect the drive. For kicks,
set the drive for CS instead of master or slave, and see what happens. my
ultimate solution was to get a PCI ide card that liked over 137 gig
drives

Have either of you tried upgrading the bios?

just upgraded to latest ecs driver. works thus far but hangs when
posting while detecting 200 gig hd as it did with prior bios. will
see if it continues to work.

bios sees 200 gigs only but doesnt see cylinders, etc.

Try just setting it to None in BIOS. When the OS loads its IDE drivers,
it'll scan the IDE buses and find the 200gb drive on the secondary IDE.
No good if you want to boot from it, obviously.
