I just got a new processor an AMD XP 2600. I tried to put it on the
motherboard but when I start my computer, it doesn't find my new processor.
Probably my bios cant handle the new processor.

When I look at my bios it says, for the processor settings only 133/133 Mhz
, but the processor needs to work with 333 Mhz. I have looked for an update
for the BIOS, there is an update for this problem, I tried to install it,
but it doesn't work.
I have an K7S5A Motherboard and at the website ECS.com there is the update.

Can somebody help me with this.

The K7S5A can only handle the 266FSB 2600+, and not the 333FSB 2600+.

Don't quote me on this....(!!)

I believe that the K7S5A will only boot-up with it's FSB set to 266 (or
less).
However, once it has booted it can be software overclocked (within Windows)
to 333 - your (Barton's?) desired FSB.

I'd suggest paying the K7S5A forum a visit at
http://p199.ezboard.com/bk7s5amotherboardforum

Search for Barton, Speedfan and CPUCooL and you'll find the answer you want.

Apparently it's a limit of the K7S5A's PLL - it can boot at 266MHz but not
333Mhz.
However, once the K7S5A has booted at 266MHz FSB, it can be software
overclocked to 333MHz to give your CPU it's true speed.

Martin.
